Experienced Machinist

An ADCO machinist is responsible for operating machining tools to produce precision metal and plastic parts that meet precise specifications by setting up and operating a wide variety of machine tool equipment. Machinist repair or produce parts using both manual and automated (CNC) equipment to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

• Perform quality checks on finished products to make sure dimensions and other criteria conform to specifications

• Machinists must interpret the design of the parts from blueprints or drawings

• Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand the specifications of the objectives

• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job

• Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job

• Monitor a machine while working to identify issues and adjust the feed & speeds

• Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects

• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages

• Most machinists have at least a high school diploma, however, a completed apprenticeship or vocational training is preferred

• Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail

• Great verbal and written communication skills

• Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated machines (lathes, mills, etc.)

• Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements

• Ability to read blueprints and schematics

• Knowledge of metal properties and other material

• Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities

• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy (30lbs) items
