Automation doesn’t mean eliminating human labor

In today's dynamic manufacturing landscape, labor shortages pose significant challenges. ADCO Manufacturing offers a balanced approach to automation, providing solutions that enhance efficiency without wholly replacing human labor. Our focus on varying levels of automation, particularly in folding carton packaging, ensures adaptability to diverse needs and budgets.

Tailoring Automation to Packaging Needs

At ADCO, we understand that automation isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Here's how we cater to different levels of automation:

  • From Manual to Semi-Automatic Transition: Recognizing that many manufacturers still rely on manual packaging, ADCO offers semi-automatic solutions like the ADCO 15DZ and 15D105. These machines automate carton erection, allowing operators to load products manually, followed by automated closing and sealing. This approach significantly reduces labor while being cost-effective and is ideal for scenarios with new products or complex packaging requirements.
  • Semi-Automatic Solutions: Ideal for manufacturers transitioning from manual processes, our semi-automatic machines can efficiently pack 5 to 30 cartons per minute. They provide a significant labor reduction without a hefty investment in machinery.
  • Automatic Solutions for Enhanced Efficiency: For operations requiring less manual involvement, our automatic machines, like the lugged infeed conveyor systems, offer increased speed and reduced labor. These machines handle the cartoning process from erection to sealing, suitable for products amenable to automatic loading.
  • Fully Automatic Systems for Maximum Efficiency: For a consistent product stream, our fully automatic solutions handle every step of the packaging process, requiring minimal operator intervention. These systems are a substantial investment but offer the highest efficiency and output.

Adapting Packaging for Automation

A crucial aspect of moving towards automation is the adaptation of packaging designs. Traditional manual packages may not be suitable for automated systems. ADCO assists in transitioning to machinable cartons that are cost-effective and provide greater product security.

Case in point is the auto-bottom (crash-lock) carton with a tablock tuck flap. This package is perfect for manual packaging, but it is not suitable for automation. Your cartons will need to change to a machinable sleeve style design (open on both ends) with either tablock tuck or glue (preferred) closing flaps.

Conclusion

ADCO's varied automation solutions offer an effective strategy to navigate labor shortages in the packaging industry. By providing a range of automated options, from semi-automatic to fully automatic, we ensure that each manufacturer can find a solution that best suits their needs, budget, and the human element of their operations.
