Elevating Contract Packaging: ADCO’s Approach to Flexibility, Durability and Efficiency

In the fast-paced world of contract packaging, the ability to adapt quickly to changing client needs, product specifications, and tight deadlines is not just an advantage—it's a necessity. ADCO Manufacturing, fresh off the insightful exchanges at the recent CPA Engage event, reaffirms its commitment to delivering flexibility, durability, and efficiency in packaging solutions. Here’s how ADCO is setting a new standard for contract packagers.

Understanding the Beat of Contract Packaging

Contract packagers operate under unique pressures, balancing the need for speed, versatility, and reliability. Key elements such as lead times, equipment flexibility, ease of changeover, and comprehensive after-sales support stand out as critical factors in their operations. A leading poultry packager's recent feedback underscores the importance of these elements, emphasizing the need for equipment that can withstand rigorous use, maintain high performance, and adapt to a constantly evolving product lineup.

End Load Cartoning

End Load cartoners like the 15DZ, 15D105, and JET-BC were specifically designed to meet the changing needs of contract packagers. These machines feature a broad standard size range that will run most carton sizes on the market with little to no need for change-parts. Hand load cartoners like the trusted 15DZ and 15D105 are great for challenging products that can’t be loaded automatically. Allow the machine to erect and close the carton – all your operators need to do is load the product. For consistent products, autoload cartoners like the JET-BC and 15DBCL105 are great options for loading products automatically, meaning higher speeds with less labor.

Top Load Cartoning

While not as versatile as an end load cartoner, top load cartoning lines that consist of a former, load area, and closer are praised for their many benefits. Flat unform cartons are more affordable and require less space than end load cartons. Between the ADCO AF (lock) and AFC (glue) carton formers, ADCO’s got you covered. Depending on the speed, space constraints, and budget, ADCO offers a diverse range of machines like the 16B and SLC to close your cartons. We remind our customers that top load carton formers and closers require changeout tooling to run alternative carton sizes.

There are costs & benefits to each carton format, but in most cases, the contract packager will need to have the machinery on hand to run the carton design that the customer requires. Contract packagers rarely have the influence to change carton designs so they need to be prepared with machinery that can handle nearly anything!
